The off-leash dog park opened in January of 2006. The dog park is 10,000 square feet and is a narrow and curved design. The surface is rock. The park is located above the I-5 freeway. To get to the park from the freeway take exits 166 or 165. The park is located on Boren Avenue between Pike Street and Pine Street.

This leash free dog park covers about 9 acres and is the biggest fully fenced off-leash park in Seattle. It also offers an access point to the lake where your pooch is welcome to take a dip in the fresh lake water. To find the dog park, take Sand Point Way Northeast and enter the park at Northeast 74th Street. Go straight and park near the playground and sports fields. The main gate to the off-leash area is located at the southeast corner of the main parking lot. Dogs must be leashed until you enter the off-leash area.

Please leash your pet. Driving Directions: From exit 212 on I-5, travel west on State Route 532 for 5.5 miles to the town of Stanwood. Continue west on SR 532 for 4.5 miles to the junction of NE Camano and N Camano drives. Bear left onto NE Camano Drive and proceed for 3 miles, bearing left again onto SE Camano Drive. In 3.4 miles bear right onto S Elger Bay Road and continue for 1.9 miles, turning right onto Mountain View Road. In 1.7 miles turn left onto Lowell Point Road and follow this road 0.7 mile to Camano Island State Park. Proceed for 0.2 mile, turning left and following the park road (passing the camping area) for 1.1 mile to its end at a large day-use parking area (elev. sea level). Privy and water available.

166th Way

Take your pup on this pet-friendly hiking trail found in Anti-Aircaft Peak. This trail runs roughly 6 miles and will reach top elevation at 1,525 feet. As you explore the trail, take in the Puget Sound basin scenery as there are many vantage points. Please leash your pet. Driving directions: From I-90 take exit 13 onto Lakemont Boulevard. Drive south on Lakemont Boulevard, which becomes Newcastle-Coal Creek Road. After crossing "The Pass" turn left (east) onto Cougar Mountain Way. Continue about 0.5 mile before turning right (south) onto 166th Way. Drive about 0.75 mile to a gate and park, being sure not to block the gate. It typically takes four hours to complete.

NE Park Drive

Spend an afternoon hiking 14 miles in the Grand Ridge Park and enjoy the backcountry not far from Seattle. Count on it taking a minimum of four hours. At about 7 miles you will reach 1100 feet. Your pup is welcome on this pet-friendly hiking trail. Please leash your pup. Directions: From Seattle, drive east on I-90 for approx. 18.1 miles. Take Exit 20, turn left at bottom of ramp. Pass underneath I-90 and park in the gravel lot to the west. Hike or bike west on the Issaquah-to-High Point Trail to the backcountry trailhead. You can also access the trail from Central Park and South Pond in the Issaquah Highlands neighborhoods. Access from the north is planned. Driving Directions - Central Park Trailhead: From I-90 take exit 18 to Highlands Drive NE. Turn onto Highlands Drive NE. Take the third right onto NE Federal Drive. Stay right as it merges into NE Park Drive. Travel 3/4 mile then turn right at the sign that says "Central Park." Travel 0.3 miles, passing the playground and taking the next left turn. There is plenty of parking near ball field #3 and the tennis courts. The trail is about 40 yards beyond (east of) the tennis courts.

FR 27-190
Seattle, Washington

Spend a day hiking 8 miles on Mount Townsend and enjoy the beauty of the Cascades. This hike could take up to 7 hours. At the highest elevation you will reach 6280 feet. Your pup is welcome on this pet-friendly hiking trail. Please leash your pup. Directions: From Quilcene drive US 101 south for 1.5 miles. (From Shelton follow US 101 north for 50.5 miles.) Turn right (west) onto Penny Creek Road. After 1.5 miles bear left onto Big Quilcene River Road (Forest Road 27). Drive 13.5 miles, ignoring the sign at 12.5 miles for the Mount Townsend Trail (that is the lower trail to Sink Lake). Turn left onto FR 27-190 and in 0.75 mile come to the trailhead.

Take a short trip just west of Seattle to Lincoln park and enjoy 5 miles of pet-friendly hiking trails with your pup. Plan on it taking you approximately 2 hours. Please leash your pet. At the trails highest point of 160 feet, take in the bluffs around and the beach below. Directions: Take I-5 to the West Seattle Bridge exit. Follow the signs to Fauntleroy Way SW. Stay on Fauntleroy Way SW until you come to Lincoln Park on the right hand side of the street. Parking: Lot is located at the south end and additional lots along Fauntleroy SW as well as on-street parking.
